Major focus of the Department: The Department focuses both on teaching & research. Specialization on Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Taxation, Auditing and Computer Auditing.
The major thrust areas within the subject in which research activities are being actively pursued. Financial Analysis, Cost Management, Accounting Theory, Taxation, Financial Management & Audit Practice, Farm Accounting & Costing.

When Jodhpur University was established in 1962, there was united Faculty of Commerce. In 1990 the Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies of Jai Narian Vyas University, Jodhpur was divided into four departments: (1) Department of Accounting, (2) Business Finance & Economics, (3) Business Administration and (4) Management Studies. The rapid growth of Department of Accounting is reflected in its expansion with more than 18,000 students as passed out. The Department of Accounting has produced highest number of Chartered Accountants in the country. It has produced nearly 100 Ph.d. and 38 number of students is registered for Ph.d.
The department is running the following programmes: (1) M.Com.(Accounting), (2) B.Com. Honors (Accounting), (3) M.Phil. Accounting, (4) Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Accounting & Auditing, (5) Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Practice, (6) Post Graduate Diploma in Cost & Management Accounting. Department of Accounting has organized number of seminars and conferences.
